Fifty Shades of Grey Taking Over The Interior Design World

The effects of this novel has not just been to stimulate the sensual side of the readers but it has also directed people’s attentions towards their bedroom designs. However, despite the title referring to shades of grey and giving rise to what you would imagine to be a dawdy outlook, the bedroom designs are not exactly like that.

Fifty Shades of Grey is an interesting book, at least for those that are raving about it and have made it infamous.

The effects of this novel has not just been to stimulate the sensual side of the readers but it has also directed people’s attentions towards their bedroom designs. However, despite the title referring to shades of grey and giving rise to what you would imagine to be a dawdy outlook, the bedroom designs are not exactly like that.

Lawrence Lewlyn-Bowen, who is a well renowned designer and star of various TV series in the UK, says the novel has motivated a lot of people to refurbish their bedroom and add some sultriness and sensual designs like attractive colours, hard textiles and other interesting and unusual decorations.

The colours beige, white and cream are now out of the fashion; purple and pink are now the most popular colours to twin with grey. Many say that a brightly painted room motivates people to be more sensual in the bedroom.

Llewlyn-Bowen is planning to show a wild bedroom inspired by the book, coupled with a nice normal non-controversial room at the Ideal Home Exhibition in London.

However, the colour grey also features much in the new craze with interior design inspired by the famous novel. The popular thing to do now is to focus on dark shades of grey and other similar tones and these are then paired with wildly coloured fixtures to complete the set up.

Most interior design experts use grey as the primary colour; combining it with other supplementary tints and dabbing it with various splashes of colours. Lipstick marks on wall paper, pendants as decorations, strong bold wall hangings are now popular and it achieves the general effect that is associated with the book.

The colour grey mixes perfectly with red and purple as well as yellow. A hot and wild look is achieved when these are combined or toned down a little, it can give a very luxurious French theme.

The novel has taken over the Amazon list of most popular books and has swarmed millions of fans all over the world for 6 months now. It is also motivating a lot of designers to come up with new ideas for the kitchen, living room and fixture  and furniture designs. Many types of fixtures that are described in the novel as well as many paintings, wall hangings and other displays as well as drawers and lighting designs, are now being adapted or copied to the real world.

Interior design is not the only influence of the book, exterior design has also been influenced. One of the most popular buildings in London is the Shard building which incorporates different shades of grey and will be the tallest building in Europe in the near future.

If you are deciding to do overall your bedroom or house decor and need some inspiration, then you can take a peek as to what is mentioned within the controversial but much loved book of Fifty shades of Grey.
